When the first Spaniard came to the Philippines in 1521.They found the Filipino with a culture that was different from theirs.Some aspect of this old culture were undoubtedly Malay.But the other aspects were probably the result of different environment.The ancient Filipino have their own way of life or culture.They have their own system of writing,they have their own music and dance and most of all they have their own belief about God and they usually called it Bathala.They usually named their child as Maganda for the beautiful girl and Malakas for the healthy boy.
But when the Spaniard colonized the Philippines and the ancient Filipino were under by their superiority there was a great impact or influence by the Spaniard that change the way of living of the ancient Filipino.Many were converted or baptized into christian.The Spaniard introduce us the formal education because there was no formal school before their coming.They also influence us by their language,clothing,economic life,and their government even the system of writing of the Filipino was influence by the Spaniard.They say that the Filipino are considered born musician because the Filipino play their own musical instrument even though they have not studied formal music.But when the Spaniard came here they introduce their own way of music which are adopted eventually by the Filipino.
However many Filipino were unhappy and angry with the Spaniard because of their cruel acts against the Filipino.The injustice,brutality and greed of many Spaniard especially the friars are the reason that made many Filipino to revolt against them.As time pass by even though we had been colonized by different country the Filipino culture still remain on us.I can proudly say that we have our own literature even though there were some changes because there was no constant in this world except by change and yet the Filipino literature still preserve.
